The One Hundred Recap!
We received an email in mid February congratulating the PRT on being one of the one hundred honorees of over 1,000 nonprofits world wide selected by Massachusetts General Cancer Care Center. You can access the article by going to http://shar.es/NNsU
Matt Damon was our guest speaker and Valarie Harper spoke for all of us selected as she is one of the onehundred. There were two pre parties followed by the dinner and an "after glow" at 9:30 p.m. Valarie and I share something in common. We both have types of lung cancer which will never be completly gone from our lungs. Unfortunately, Valarie was told she had brain cancer and there was nothing they could do for her.
Some of you would remember she had to leave "Dancing With The Stars" because of difficulty in breathing. She had heard of Massachusetts General, made an appointment with one of their cancer specialist. He gave her a powerful new drug, the cancer in her brain was actually lung cancer.
Her last ct scan showed no cancer in her brain! The highlight of the evening was speaking to her. Her enthusiam is contagious. I'd like to thank all the men and women who have supporcause, funding free mammograms for uninsured women.
Our total donations to the St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Breast Health Servicesas of December, 2013, is $160,840.
